You can copy a variety of pictures from 500 Nations to the Windows Clipboard or to your Windows desktop. If you copy to the Clipboard, you can paste the picture into another Windows program. If you copy the picture to your desktop, the picture will become the "wallpaper" behind the windows on your screen. To use a 500 Nations picture as wallpaper, the picture file must be copied to your Windows directory.
To copy a picture:
1. Click the Options button to display the list of choices.
2. Click Picture Gallery.
3. Display the picture you want using the arrow keys
or the Gallery List.
4. Either click Copy Picture to copy the picture to
the Clipboard, or click Make Wallpaper to use the
picture as the Windows wallpaper.
You can change your Windows wallpaper by choosing the Control Panel from the Program Manager window, opening the Desktop option, and then selecting a new pattern from the Wallpaper list.(For more information, see your Windows documentation.)
PRINTING
========
You can print any article screen or popup window in 500 Nations. Both pictures and words on the screen will be printed, so printing may take a few minutes. The Quality setting in the Print dialog box affects the time it takes to print. High quality takes longer to print; low quality takes less time to print.
To print:
1. Make sure what you want to print is shown on the screen.
2. Click the Options button to display a list of choices.
3. Click Print to display the Print dialog box.
4. Under Quality, click High/Slower (slower printing) or
Low/Faster (faster printing).
5. Under Page Orientation, you can select how you
want your picture to print. Click Portrait/Tall
to print a picture that is taller than it is wide.
Click Landscape/Wide to print a picture that is
wider than it is tall.
6. Click OK to begin printing.
CONTROLLING SOUNDS
==================
You can turn off the sounds in 500 Nations:
1. Click the Options button to display a list of choices.
2. Click Sounds to display the Sounds dialog box.
3. Choose Sound Effects On or Off.
4. Click OK.
RANDOM MODE
=============
You can set up 500 Nations so that the program will display articles randomly on the screen. It's a great way to find out what's in 500 Nations.
To start random mode:
1. Click the Options button to display a list of choices.
2. Click Slide Show.
Random starts automatically, displaying screen after screen of 500 Nations. To stop the slide show, just click anywhere on the screen.
CLOSING WINDOWS AND QUITTING
============================
On some monitors, 500 Nations takes up the entire screen. To switch to another Windows application temporarily while 500 Nations is running, you can use one of the following standard Windows methods:
* Click the minimize button in the upper-right
corner of the 500 Nations window to shrink
the window to an icon so that you can see other
applications.
(To restore the 500 Nations window,
click the icon to display the Control menu, then
choose Restore.)
* While pressing the ALT key, press TAB until you see the name of the
application you want to switch to, then release the keys.
When you've finished exploring the world of 500 Nations:
* To exit 500 Nations, click the Control-menu
box in the upper-left corner of the 500 Nations window,
